A name you give to a file on your computer. MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 file names can be up to 8 characters long with a 3 character extension after the period (example: myletter.doc). These file names cannot include spaces. Windows 95 can use up to 255 characters to name a file, including spaces (example: GARDENING TIPS).
