A measurement of how fast your computer processes information. As software becomes more complex, increased computer speeds (or Hertz) become necessary. Modern Pentium (586) computers operate at 90 Megahertz (90,000,000 Hertz), while the ancient 286 computers operated at 12 Megahertz (12,000,000 Hertz).
