Software used to record, and then compress and play back digital video on your computer screen. Microsoft’s Video for Windows uses Indeo. Indeo plays back video over 1/4 of your screen (320x240 pixels) at 15 frames per second — slow enough to cause some jerky movement. One of the main applications of Indeo is video conferencing. Indeo is not as powerful as MPEG, but requires no extra hardware. See also CODEC.
