A company that connects individuals and businesses to the Internet for a fee. A service provider will give you access to the Internet, normally through a SLIP or PPP connection. Some service providers will also provide you with software or lessons to use the tools on the Internet. Often called ISPs (Internet Service Providers). See also PPP and SLIP.
